Chinese Olympics – An Oxymoron

August 8, 2008

Assigning the Olympics to China was an idiotic thing to do, as we all know. Pollution, China’s civil liberties problems, Tibet, Taiwan, etc… what more do you need?

Anybody actually knows WHY Chinese got the games rather than Turkey, Japan, France or Canada? Sure they have some problems too, but nothing nearly as bad as the Chinese.

At least the mascots are super cute. Oh look there is one as a Tibetan Antelope.

I agree with you 100%. China is a complicated issue, and I’m all for their social and economic development, but having give them honor of hosting the Olympics had only validated their political approach: censorship, continued human right violations, ecological distraction, oligarchical market system, and irresponsible trade agreements with Africa. I’m wearing my Tiananmen Square t-shirt during the Olympics in protest. I just wish people here in the States had more conscious to take the opportunities to address these issue rather than support the McCommunist Olympics.
